The hotline is a collaboration with Asia Safe Abortion Partnership, Aware Girls (Pakistan), Women on Web, Women on Waves, and Community Life Bangladesh. Menstrual regulation is legal in Bangladesh up to 10 weeks from the last menstrual period, though many women still use unsafe methods to terminate unwanted pregnancies. Hopefully with this hotline more women will be able to access safe alternatives.

On the 18th of October the CEDAW Committee adopted its 30th General recommendation (GR)on women in conflict prevention, conflict and post-conflict situations. General recommendations are authoritative statements on the meaning and scope of the provisions in the CEDAW Convention with respect to the rights of women and the obligations of the State. It clarifies the application of CEDAW to emerging and priority situations affecting women.

Today, October 18, 2013, one of the Philippines reproductive health movement's leader, Dr. Alberto "Quasi" Romualdez passed on. Dr. Romualdez is remembered as a passionate and dedicated health worker and RH advocate.

Dr. Romualdez succumbed to heart ailment. His life continue to inspire the local RH movement to defend the RH Law until it's implementation.

In deep sorrow, the Women Human Rights Defenders International Coalition (WHRD IC) mourns the loss of SunilaAbeysekera, one of our founding members and a courageous women human rights defender who had fought and contributed greatly to human rights and justice in Sri Lanka, in the South Asian region and globally. Sunila passed away in Colombo on 9 September, 2013 after a long battle with cancer.
